The contact owns a 2008 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated while driving approximately 5-10 MPH, she heard an abnormal intermittent banging sound coming from underneath the front end of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the strut assembly needed replaced. The contact stated the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who test drove the vehicle but could not determine the cause of the failure. The mechanic performed a front-end alignment on the vehicle. The contact stated after the front-end alignment was completed, the abnormal banging sounds increased significantly. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who diagnosed that the driver-??s side front subframe was corroded and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The contact was awaiting a call back from the manufacturer. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 57,000.
