In 2019, my transmission stopped working. At the time I was told there was an issue with these transmissions and it would be covered under warranty. 26 months later, that new transmission died. I was informed there is no warranty on the new transmission they installed.

It’s going to cost me $6,000 if I want to replace it again. It’s not safe to drive as is and I’m not dumping $6,000 into a transmission that barely lasts 2 years.

I love my Versa. It is my 4th Nissan I have purchased brand new. I have 81,000 miles and I need a whole new transmission?? Why? First the front coils were recalled, but my transmission is not being recalled? I got a quote today for $4300.00 81200 miles. That is awful. Shame on Nissan. Do the right thing Nissan.

LOVE my Versa - never have had any major problems. Really has been a wonderful first new car and now family car. However, I had heard that Nissan's CVTs often have problems, so I wasn't surprised when it went. About a year before it went, I took it to the dealer because I was noticing new noise - it was a very subtle revving sound and I guessed it was the transmission- but I didn't think I was imagining it. The morning that it went out I was out of town, and I heard it again making a new, though pretty innocuous, noise, though it drove fine.

Drove home about 120 miles and went out to restock my fridge that night and barely made it home from grocery store 2 miles way - it was bucking the whole way home. Had it towed to my mechanic to find out out - thankfully - that it was covered under extended warranty. Phew! But now that we've got a new tranny in there and it's driving fine, I'm eager to sell while I can still get something for it before it goes again. Who's to say this new one will last another 100K miles?

I really love the car, but losing a tranny at 100K is a big deal. And for the record, I drive pretty mildly and smoothly - my dad's a car guy, so I know how to treat cars! I've adapted well to the CVT over the years (my husband not so much when he drives it), so I don't feel it was an issue with rough driving. (Unless it can't handle the rare occasions my husband drives it, which I do wonder...)

Come on, Nissan! What gives? I really like your cars, but for this one, big problem!!!

Pretty disappointed -- Transmission went out and it's outside the 120k warranty. All coming out of pocket, which is substantial.

Our Nissan has a CVT transmission in it. The CVT was manufactured to not be repaired only to be replaced, It is now 2017 and our 2009 Versa that has been well maintained enough for the service at Nissan to comment on how well it looks. Is now not worth the price of a tow. Quoted $3700 for a new transmission with a warranty of 12 months 12,000 miles. The car no longer books for that amount, so basically they manufactured a self destruct car. Why would you build a transmission that cannot be repaired and put it in a car that retails under the $20,000 range, drive it off the lot and it is worth half what you paid and then have the tranny go out 6000 miles over warranty period and then NISSAN tells you sorry no help here.I would advise anyone that is considering purchasing a vehicle with a CVT transmission in any brand of vehicle to do your homework. They knew there were problems with these so they upped the warranty from 60 to 120,000 miles, and also stated , in the unlikely event that your vehicle's transmission should need repair beyond the extended warranty period we are working to decrease the cost of repair and have already reduced the Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price of a replacement CVT.In addition, we continuously strive to enhance our products, and have made ongoing improvements to our CVTs over the years. Kevin Martin Vice President Total Customer Satisfaction. Mr Martin if you are still at Nissan let me tell you This is not one satisfied customer here. P.S. thanks for nothing.

Update from Sep 20, 2017: My mechanic has tried to get a price on a re-manufactured transmission and is getting two different prices from Nissan dealerships. Shouldn't the prices be the same at any dealership for parts.More Nissan run-arounds.
