The sending unit for the fuel injectors keeps going out and it's costing me $150 every 3 to 6 months to get a new one installed. When the unit goes bad the car has trouble knowing when to shift and will flood itself or run away with itself and the RPMs will shoot up to the red line because it won't get the gas portioned correctly. It lugs out anytime I try to stomp on it, I can't count on it speeding up on the freeway to merge into flowing traffic or to shoot out into a street when there is a gap in traffic. I have to wait for a very long gap in traffic before I feel safe to accelerate slowly into the street or onto the freeway. I feel like I am forced to drive like I am 90 years old, or like I have a total run down jalopy. It also gets horrible gas mileage when the ending unit fails. Every time it fails I don't know it until I try to go up a hill with my cruse control on and it will lug out and try to die, or it will run the RPMs up so high I'm afraid the engine is going to blow before I can turn off the cruse. Either way, it has caused some close calls in the highway traffic and on the turnpike, where everyone is rolling along a 75+ MPH and suddenly my car is dead in the water in the middle of semi trucks or bumper to bumper rush hour traffic. I really love this car, but it has some serious quirks and they tend to be the same problems over and over. Sometimes the check engine light comes on and stays on and sometimes it will flash briefly during the episode and not come on again, on a couple of occasions it has not come on at all. The symptoms of the hard or delayed shifting does not have a connection to the transmission, or so I have been told, but is caused by the erroneous messages from the sending unit to the fuel system.
