The smell of the gas inside the car and near the back is so bad people are afraid to come near the car. You can't even drive it with the windows down, it makes you sick! The cost to repair this is outrageous and I only have 51,000 miles. Has anyone found a less expensive way of repairing the cracked hose from the fuel pump?

I decided to contact GM myself since they want over $200 for an inspection to see the fuel leak and then they want over $800 to fix this ever so common fuel leak. My car and home now smell of fuel. Now car is not worth anything due to this problem... so here is the conversation with GM. I believe that was a computer replying back. Which if it is proves even more how much they care... sad thing is I am forced to drive this death trap since I have no money...

cted to Agent chris moffett:8:20:32 PM GM -Question/concern about a vehicle I own Connection established. Welcome to GM Connecting.....A live chat agent is now entering the chat. Jake:8:21:27 PM Thank you for contacting GM customer assistance Chris, my name is Jake, how may I assist you today? chris moffett:8:23:09 PM well i would love to know why the G6 is not being recalled for the gas leak problem... specifically the 06-08 models.. there are complaints everywhere and evryoone has taken their care to the dealership yet we get told to fix it out of our pockets and its a manufactures problem... not ours? chris moffett:8:23:25 PM this is a VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM chris moffett:8:23:51 PM their cars* sorry Jake:8:26:48 PM I am sorry to hear that you have been experiencing a fuel leak concern with your vehicle. General Motors gathers information from multiple sources, such as warranty claims filed through the dealerships, Cusotmer complaints that we document in our system and customer complaints filed with the NHTSA, to look into concerns and determine when a recall does need to be released and to figure out what vehicles the recall would apply too. To better assist you this evening may I please have your Vehicle Identification Number and approximate current mileage for the vehicle? chris moffett:8:30:24 PM so basically Pontiac doesn't care about anyone being killed by this problem since no one can afford to spend $800 on this problem even with complaints the people are going to wait till the NHTSA will demand to recall these vehicles... thats sad....... 123200 and vin is ....................... chris moffett:8:30:38 PM there is no recall on this car.... chris moffett:8:31:38 PM this is why i am contacting you?????? i cam concerned for my safety and because of this problem i can only get a trade value of $2400 when it is worth almost more... chris moffett:8:35:20 PM http://www.g6ownersclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4213 here are many compaints. you can google pontiac G6 fuel leak and see the millions of complaints Jake:8:37:07 PM Thank you for your information Chris. Customer safety is something that Pontiac takes very seriously and is a top priority to General Motors. General Motors voluntarily puts out a recall to correct the issue, the NHTSA does not need to demand for a recall to be released, although General Motors does work with the NHTSA to research complaints and find when a recall should be applied. I understand that you have found information online of other customers who are experiencing the same symptoms with their vehicles. Many symptoms have the possibility, of being caused by different sources. This is why we recommend to have vehicles diagnosed by a GM dealership as our Certified and factory trained technicians are in the best position to assist with diagnosing your vehicle and determining the cause of these symptoms. From the sounds of it you have already had your vehicle diagnosed by a dealership. may I please have the name and location of the dealer? chris moffett:8:42:54 PM i didn't have it inspected at a dealership since they want over $200 for the inspection and then $800 to fix this problem. if GM would allow me to bring it in for no charge i will gladly let them look it over. but i do not have $200 for the inspection let alone fix this problem... when i took it to the dealership in Pensacola they gave me these quotes... once again i am SCARED FOR MY SAFTEY and my home smells like fuel because it was kept in a garage... THIS IS NOW A PROBLEM FOR CHILDREN............................ chris moffett:8:49:41 PM and what concerns me the most is GM is aware of this problem beacuse of previous recalls on G6's and they do not want to fix this Jake:8:51:30 PM I understand your hesitance to spend money on the diagnostic fee. A diagnosis is an important part in determining the cause of the failure and nature of the concern. It also helps to determine the estimated cost of repairs in case the estimation you have been provided is inaccurate being that a dealer has not had the opportunity to diagnose the vehicle. General Motors provides an excellent warranty to protect you from unexpected concerns and repairs, but no manufacturer’s warranty is unlimited. Without a recall being applied to the vehicle for the concern General Motors would consider the cost of the repair to be the responsibility of the customer. If General Motors was to release a recall for this exact concern in the future, you would receive a notice of the recall in the mail. If the recall include the ability for customers to file a request for reimbursement from previous repairs they have paid for, the letter would also include a reimbursement request form. chris moffett:8:58:19 PM so basically GM does not care if my home burns down and i die or my car catches on fire due to a spark while going down the road and i am injured. the company only wants my money before they will do anything... good to know. a multi-billion dollar company not willing to provide a courtesy inspection for safety concerns... chris moffett:8:59:48 PM i feel like GM pontiac could care less about my life... and its very obvious that GM does not care. chris moffett:9:00:20 PM millions of complaints and no recalls Jake:9:03:28 PM I understand your concern with experiencing this issue but unfortunately your vehicle is outside of any parameters in which General Motors could offer you assistance with getting the vehicle in to a dealership to have this diagnosed. I understand that you feel a recall should be released for this concern and I have documented your comments in our system today so that General Motors will have the ability to review your feedback. Jake:9:08:18 PM I am still available if you have any other questions that I may be able to assist you with tonight, I am just checking to see if you are still there? chris moffett:9:08:45 PM and they wont care about this or the millions that have the same problem. as i said i now know pontiac does not care about my safety nor others. i will never again buy a GM product. WORST car experience ever. this conversation will definitely be posted so other may know hwo GM does not care chris moffett:9:09:19 PM I am appalled by this

SUBJECT:

I am having to pay out over $1,000 for a repair that I KNOW is a manufacturers defect.

I noticed a STRONG gas odor coming from my vehicle and even inside my vehicle when I was parked. I thought it was the gas I had put into the tank the previous day. However, with my car parked in the garage at my home, the gas smell became overwhelming. I took my vehicle into the dealership for maintenance and they informed me that the fuel pump needed replacing and notified me of the cost. I contacted Pontiac and they called the dealership on conference call to clarify for me what was needed. On the call (with Pontiac on the line) the dealership explained that a plastic piece of the fuel pump was cracked and could not be replaced separately so that is why I had to pay to replace the entire fuel pump.

This defect is EXACTLY what is listed in the recall on the Pontiac G5 2007-2009 and I find it no coincidence that the same issue has occurred on my vehicle and I'm sure countless others who just aren't aware to file a complaint. I filed a complaint with NHTSA and Robert informed me that there are several other complainants in the system for the same thing. I’m certain a recall will come soon. I plan on getting the word out via social media to other G6 owners who had this problem, but may think it is a general maintenance issue, to ensure we get this safety issue addressed.

My car could have caught fire, or worse, my home as my vehicle sat in my garage discharging fumes that could’ve caused my home to combust!
