I noticed on Sunday my truck was not running right. The engine light came on. I took it to the dealership on Tuesday. Because #6 Cylinder was not firing they wanted to keep the truck. I got a car from them to drive.

First they said it was the injector and it wouldn't be ready till Thursday. Next they said it was the head and wouldn't be ready till the following week. I never was called so I decided to find out the status and call on the following Tuesday. Now it was the timing sensor. They estimated it would be fixed Thursday. Well I got a call on Thursday evening and the engineers now say they need to rewire #6 back to the computer. I have not heard back from them yet so I still do not know if this is fixed or not. So far they have had the vehicle for 2 weeks and I don't know if they have the problem resolved or not.

I know things happen but dang, 2 weeks on a vehicle that has less than 20k on it. At least when I bought this truck I purchased the lifetime warranty. I am not one to trade vehicles in. These things cost too much to swap out after 3 to 5 years. That is the greatest part of buying a Dodge. I will be honest, I am not getting that warm fuzzy feeling about this truck, but I would stick with a Ram no matter what, but the next one will be a 2500 diesel.

Hopefully they will call today with good news.

Update from Nov 4, 2014: The dealship called me last night to tell me the problem was still happening. They are waiting on a call back from the engineers however they feel the issue is now in the computer. As of right now the local mechanics feel the computer needs to be replaced however the engineers need to make that call.

I am so glad this is a warranty issue, I would hate to guess how much this would cost based on what has been done up to this point. But it also makes you wonder if the parts and work that has been done so far was really needed. I am sure all manufactures do this but you would hope that there is a better way to find out what is wrong besides replacing parts.

Update from Nov 5, 2014: Dealership called me back yesterday afternoon about my truck. They said the engineers feel the rocker arm and cam shaft need to be replaced and not the computer. I question this for you would thing you could tell if the rocker arms were bad by taking off the valve cover. Maybe these new motors are way different than what I remember. As for the cam, how did it go bad?

So all that being said, they hope to have the parts in this afternoon if they are local. It will take them 4 to 5 hours to do the work and maybe, just maybe it will be fixed. I told them I did not buy a car and them having my only truck for over 2 weeks has put me in a bind. This is truely sad. I am not at all impressed on how they are determining what is the problem. This all seems like the best guess to me. Sure am glad it is not on my nickle. I would like to have my truck back but not if the problem is not resolved.
