A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

The latest incident occurred as I just picked up groceries. There is never a good time to have a problem. I started the truck, runs smooth, no warning lights, I placed it in drive and no acceleration in any gear. It's not poor acceleration or limp mode but only idle, with no pedal variance. This is actually the third instance that are months apart. The first occurred when i performed a NAV update. I thought at the time perhaps a data jumble may have caused it. I contacted my mechanic but they had not experienced that problem. The 2nd was random as well as the third. A system reboot, accomplished by removing power from the system, seems to clear the problem but obviously does not resolve it.

Mechanics need the problem to be occurring to determine the cause. It is unlikely that a cause would be determined and with my luck after the tow, the problem would not exhibit itself upon restarting. Is it possibly controlled by the BCM? I am having other issues that could relate to that component also.

I have owned the truck for just over a year.

Update from Oct 20, 2021: After pondering the BCM replacement. I opted to try a replacing one of the cheaper components of the electronic system components - the key fob. This was never a recommendation from anyone I know of on-line or in -person. For some time now after replacing the key fob all of the "ghosties" have abated.

2500 Laramie V6 Diesel

  • Automatic transmission
  • 93,000 miles

When the Ram 2500 was new, it had excellent power response from the gas pedal, but after the first 20000 miles the problems started. It was a small hiccup at first but grew to seconds of delay upon pressing the gas pedal. I inquired while under warranty and the dealer fixed but there was minor improvements, yet over time it got worse until the engine finally froze on the highway. At 75000 miles the dealer opted to replace the entire engine block. That seemed to clear the problem.

Now after another 20000 miles the delay is back and getting worse again. I have to anticipate traffic so not to be caught dead in the water when needing power. I gave my truck to a neighbor to move his garage items this weekend and he was terrified when he brought it back saying that this truck is going to get you killed with the power delay. Is anyone else having similar issues?
