CarComplaints.com Notes: Subaru thinks burning through a quart of oil every 1,000 miles or so is perfectly normal. That's a crude stance if you ask us.

The car has been a disappointment. Wheel bearings should last longer.

Forester Premium 2.5i

  • CVT transmission
  • 51,250 miles

For about two weeks, car had a roaring sound at highway speed, kind of like a bad muffler, got worse and worse and it was determined that left rear wheel bearing was completely shot. So replacement was necessary. This at 51,250 miles. My mechanic was puzzled as to why this would occur so soon, but here in Western Montana he services a lot of Subarus and says he's seeing this more and more on newer model Subarus. So this is my third relatively major Subaru Forester problem this year, (costs may exceed $1,800) and I'm very disappointed with this 2105, after loving my 01 Forester and having few problems with it in almost 15 years and nearly 200,000 miles. I think Subaru is going down hill and I'm left wondering, what next?
