I purchased a new 2016 Subaru Forester. The original tires lasted about 19,000 miles. I figured the car came with "cheap tires." I purchased a set of Michelin tires. At 36,000 miles the tires were worn to the point of having to be replaced! This is two sets of tires in $36,000 miles.
Nearly all of the driving that is done is "highway miles." There is a little "back and forth" to work, but that is also nearly all highway miles.
