problem #3

Forester Limited 2.5L

The car itself is excellent! However, interior has three major drawbacks:

1) The infotainment system for Subaru Forester 2017 does not work properly. Sometimes it won't allow us to enter the search address or enter "search by name" - all letters would show inactive. However, in similar cases it would allow search. No logic!

Finding something on the map takes forever. The system is slow. It does not learn your preferred routes ever, pointing you to wrong directions at times.

We went to Subaru Dealer and he agreed the software totally sucks and needs major upgrade.

2) windows won't roll up or down once you turn off the engine. So, if you forgot to roll them up, you have to start the engine again, waste gas and time. Why can't they come up with delayed power cut off for the windows? I have it in my 15 years old Honda, so technology is there...

3) Speed of intermittent wipers. I live in Vancouver, BC rain city, so I use wipers daily. Intermittent speeds were selected by a person who most likely lives in the desert. Also, my old Honda slows down wipers when vehicle stops and restarts once it starts moving. Subaru Limited Edition does not have this simple feature!?

Forester Limited 2.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 1,600 miles

THE SIRI AND THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM ON MY NEW SUBARU FORESTER USE TECHNOLOGY THAT'S AT LEAST 10 YEAR OLD. THE SIRI TAKES FROM 30 SECONDS TO 2 MINUTES TO INITIALIZE. THE COMMANDS ARE EXTREMELY LIMITED TO MUSIC. AND THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM DOESN'T RECOGNIZE STREET ADDRESSES ALL THE TIME. OFTEN REPORTING THE WRONG CITY AND STATE. ITS NOT USABLE GENERALLY AND I RECOMMEND ANYONE PURCHASING THE CAR TO NOT BUY THIS ADD ON.

The Navigation system will not find the city of Savannah, GA. I live outside of Savannah and mostly I use the navigation system to find places in that city. If I have the zip code, great, but the city doesn't exist. It is a new car and I brought this to the attention of the seller, Chatham Parkway Subaru, Savannah. They knew all about the problem and told me that Subaru "was working on it" and "it only lacks a couple of places". Yeah. Chatham Parkway is taking no responsibility for the problem and told me to complain to Subaru, Inc., which I did. The sense I am getting is that anyone with a new Subaru in the Statesboro, Savannah, Hilton Head region has a problem, and Subaru is making little or no progress on fixing the problem. I like the car, but if this isn't addressed in a timely fashion, I'm going back to Hondas.
