So I apologize up front because I don't really know how to explain the issue without mentioning another issue... On 11/17/23, I took my Forester in to the dealership because I was one of the many who ended up having a faulty tcv. Somehow, they jacked up the repair so when I picked my car up and pulled out of the parking lot, I stalled right on the highway. Obviously I walked the 30 feet back to the dealer, and my car went back in to the service center. Apparently they kinked some hose or something. Anyway, on 11/20/23 I picked it up again. I didn't really notice anything the first day. But then when I would drive on 295N to go to/from work (which is about 50mi each way), I would smell a faint gas smell. I thought it was odd, but it's the highway and so I thought it was the cars in front of me. But the smell started getting stronger. And when the smell started to get heavy whenever I stopped at lights/stop signs, I started thinking maybe it was me. But then on Christmas, when my brother started walking towards my car saying holy sh*t did you bring the gas station with you, I realized that it was me and I was in denial.

It's been 2 months since that fateful day that I picked my poor Subi up from the dealership, and now the smell gets so strong that you end up dizzy with a headache. I can almost taste it. (I mean personally, I love the smell of gas. But apparently not everyone shares my feelings.) I have noticed a slight decrease in gas mileage, but it's not dramatic- I'd say about 30-40mi less on a full tank. Also when I pull in a parking lot, you can smell the gas from like 4-5 cars away. And it's very embarrassing. I can't take my car back there again, they literally torture it every time. Service was fine for the first year, but in the last 3 years I seriously have not taken it in one single time without having some kind of issue. I'm so sad for it. :(
