My aunt owned this car for 10 years, with very low mileage, she took care of it well. I bought it off her 6 months ago for my son to commute to work in replacing his clunker, as opposed for her to trade it in. Well, it seems to be a reasonable decision to make, consider her car has new brakes, tires and has all features well maintained. The engine is a bit loud, but hey, it's a senior, and it passed safety certification, so I didn't think much about it. I hoped it would work another year or two, to get my son to buy a brand new one to replace it eventually. It was a hassle to transfer the car over, and after all inspection fees + sales tax, it tallied up to $5000 already. It ran smooth for one summer.

In Nov, during last oil change, I noticed the engine light were on and the cruise light blinking. I asked my mechanic to check on it, he told me it was the cruise control device, needed replacement, but I can hold on to it for a little while. The warning lights all went off after the car was serviced.

I asked my son to check the performance and nagged him to bring it in for repair as soon.Of course, I was ignored, since it was still running normal otherwise.

10 days ago, on his way home on the highway, his car would not accelerate, he slammed down hard to get past a certain level before the car started to regain power and ramped up really fast.

Later, he admitted the car stalled on him a couple of times on his way to work, but he managed to turn it back on and so he thought it's fine.

We had the car towed in and my mechanic and cleaned and flushed some connections, and changed some parts around it. Brought it out for a test drive, all seemed fine. He took it back and the next day, it stalled again, we bring it back to the shop for inspection. After a weekend, the car test drive OK. To our dismay, the problem lingers, the car will start but can stall unexpectedly whenever it feels like it. And the engine light/ cruise came back on.

It was now parked at my drive way, and I go on line to check if there are reports on this. And I find this site. Hey, I am not alone, this is not a one off problem.

My son has a new car now, but I cannot trade this in, because it is not working fine. I still don't know what to do with it, beside donate it to charity.
