Airbag warning light came on. Error code was B1801 - open in D squib circuit. This indicates a problem with the wiring harness which activates the airbag. The spiral cable assembly or "clock-spring" was bad and needed to be replaced. After a call with Toyota, they refused to replace it without charge due to out of warranty. This is the exact part that was involved with 6.4 million Toyota of various lines, including Camry. My Toyota was not in the recall list based upon VIN. Airbag wiring harnesses that break under normal usage like turning the steering wheel sound defective. Does the original recall need to be reviewed and expanded?
