I was told that the clock spring also controls the air bag and that the button failure points to a worn out clock spring cable. @73000 miles it should not wear out, safety issue if the air bag is affected. was told it is worn out from turning the steering wheel. Last I checked most roads are not a straight path, you need to turn your wheel. this is something that should be covered thru Toyota as a safety issue.
