The back up video screen, the radio system and Bluetooth are malfunctioning by constantly shutting on and off. When the engine is started, the radio comes on but then starts to shut off and on. The back up screen and Bluetooth also cut on and off at the same time. Sometimes, after driving for 20 minutes, the radio will stay on or stay off. It stops the continuous shutting off and on. However, there is no control over the volume or station. None of the controls work. The dealer has suggested installing a new unit at a cost of almost $900. Stone Mountain Toyota has ordered a new system from Japan but I have not yet taken the car back in to have it installed. They say the new unit will be guaranteed for 12 months or 12,000 miles. I am willing to bet that a new unit will do exactly the same thing. I believe it is not the unit, but the car electrical system. The Toyota dealer has no explanation for this malfunction and they will not cover it because the car is out of warranty. I will have to try replacing the unit because I cannot possibly sell the car without fixing the problem. Other electrical problems occurred at the same time, reported in a separate report. The headlights are very dim and do not light up the road ahead.
