A couple of years ago I received a safety recall notice from Toyota regarding the rear wheel alignment adjusters. We immediately took it down to our local Toyota dealer, Avondale Toyota, 10005 W. Papago Freeway, Avondale, AZ to take care of the issue since it was regarding a "safety issue".
Well unknown to me, Toyota in their infinite stupidity removed the rear wheel alignment adjusters and replaced them with permanent ones which they epoxied so they are no longer adjustable, along with a sticker that reads "NOT ADJUSTABLE DO NOT REMOVE".
Avondale Toyota never informed me this was their "fix". I first discovered this about a year later when I took my Rav4 in for a routine alignment of all 4 wheels. The guy at Firestone Complete service informed me the rear end chamber was out of alignment but they couldn't adjust it because of the recall repair stupidity.
Neither Avondale Toyota nor Toyota are willing to correct the rear end alignment without charging me nearly $1000 to replace the fixed rear end alignment adjusters with new one.
When brought to Avondale Toyota's attention they stated "If you would have read the fine print you would have discovered you could have opted out of the recall." That was their so called solution.
Not sure what to do, other than to contact my State Attorney General's Office regarding consumer fraud issues by Toyota. Does anyone have any ideas how to get this resolved new safety issue created by Toyota.
