My husband was replacing drivers car door handle. When he removed the door panel , the air bag sensor was disintegrated with rust spreading to the bolt securing the unit . We took a picture and went to the Toyota dealer in Dublin Ca. They said due to a water leak that is what cause this to happen and they will not cover the cost. My thoughts is if this was something that could happen why didn't they have a cover over the sensor to protect it . And should there even be water leaking into the door panel, I think not .Most importantly my safety, will the airbag engage if I were to get involved in a collision? I then called Toyota Corp office and received the same response. I can't believe that they care so little for my safety as well as the rust factor eating away at my car. My car is a 2004 Toyota Solara SLE V6 two door. I looked on this sight for the most problems with Toyota Solara and guess what its 2004. So you would think that would have some kind of bearing on this matter VERY Disheartened by Toyota
