Beetle Convertible 2.5L

I bought the convertible Beetle certified pre-owned. It had an existing crack on the driver side..I didn't think anything of it since the VW dealer repaired it. I saw a crack again about three years later same spot no impact. This is not a coincidence, it is a manufacturer flaw. The windshield pillars are either vibrating too much or flexing enough to crack windshield along sides

Driving down highway, no other cars near, heard crack and discovered l had shaped cracks starting 8 inches above the bottom of BOTH sides of the windshield. No rock chips on either side.

Beetle 2.5L Ltr F1

  • Automatic transmission
  • 20,000 miles

Rain-sensitive windshield cracked spontaneously at edge, keeps growing. Dealer WILL NOT honor warranty, insists there must have been impact. Crack is manufacturing defect and warranty time almost running out. Very disappointing in that we have owned several VW's that we loved. Because of the rain sensor, new windshield will cost almost $1,000 to replace in lieu of warranty.
