My ABS light came on and then my red brake light came on, a few days later my epc light came on. About a week after that that my speedometer stopped working and I noticed that the mileage had stopped counting. I took it to napleton's Volkswagen service department in orlando and (short version) received a quote to do the work of over $1700 to fix the ABS before they could even tell me if there was a problem with the ABS as they could not upload the software for the recall..the problem was directly related to the ABS module..which in my paperwork is described in the recall information. I have told them not to fix my car as I believe this is incorrect (most of the work they quoted I believe is incorrect) and will be taking it to a mechanic I trust. It also opens the door for fraud as if I allowed them to do the work and then "fix" the recall that would seem like they would be charging me and Volkswagen for the work. They also are charging me for diagnostic on the ABS but per their own words they haven't been able to do the diagnostic. My car actually runs fine, however without the speedometer and having the brake lights on it feels very unsafe. The problem started 2 weeks ago July 23, 2018 and I brought it to service dealer yesterday

I have taken my car auto repair shop over 5X over the times over the past year because the 'engine malfunction' light was going on/off intermittently - on for 3 hours then off, on for 2 days, off. Now the check engine light is permanently illuminated on the dashboard despite multiple engine auto repair services rendered. 2. the ABS and eps/asr symbols illuminate and alarm goes off randomly without reason while I am driving 50-65mph on major nyc highways and/or when im driving 15-35 on a residential street. The eps/asr flashes continuously while sounding an alarm for 60 seconds or so, ABS remains constant lit and will continue to do so until I am able to stop, turn of the engine, wait a minute, and then restart the car. On highway I have had to drive considerable distance with emergency lights flashing. 3. I was pulled over by a cop at night because one of my tail lights was out. I had no idea that was the case and would have never found out because the "light bulb!" warning was not on, and never came on. I got it fixed 2 days later, still no light bulb signal, my right taillight was replaced. About 2 weeks later the "light bulb!" icon illuminated, I tested and all the lights were working- but the 'lightbulb!' remained lit. About 2 weeks later the lightbulb was off. 4. the aux feature on my car is no longer accessible. Repair shop but they were unable to fix because VW speciality code/ system programming? 5. I have noticed it takes more effort to engage my brakes while driving. I have had my car brake pads replaced at least 2X over the past 6 years (I have driven about 20K miles). Also note - no symbol of emergency brake/ mechanic maintenance / worn brake pads/ automatic transmission/gearbox symbol were illuminated during this event (in February 2018) and none of these symbols had illuminated to this day (April 2018).

What does the software update fix" prevents my ABS from failing how is the ground connection checked? if the software can cause the pump to fail and my pump failed shouldn't the recall fix that issue" spoke to VW with their regional manager called nina a. at 800-822-8987 option 9 extension 43320 who denied my claim. They did a software upgrade on my car and then less two months latter my cars ABS does not work. Even nina said its odd but the codes coming back say it wasn't the software upgrade. How coincidental this is. Even though VW knows many other people are having this issue they are not taking action.
