A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

After purchasing my VW Tiguan in 2018, I noticed the hesitation acceleration within days of owning the car. The first time I was at a busy intersection making a left turn then when I pressed the gas, the car did not move. I was terrified because traffic was approaching, beeping at me and I thought I was going to get T-boned. I thought it was a fluke, but it happened again days later. Since those two occurrences the hesitation with the acceleration has happened numerous times, but its unpredictable.

I’m scared to drive the car because I don’t know if that’s the day something bad happens. When I took the car to the dealership, they told me that it’s a known issue at VW, but they don’t know how to fix it. If that is the case, VW should give owners the opportunity to trade in the car or re- call it. This issue is dangerous, and I fear someone may die or get hurt until VW takes action.

Tiguan Hightrend 2.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 4,000 miles

Hesitation and clunkiing at start and low speeds. Can be very noisy. The more you press on the accelerator, the worse it gets. Very scary. Very annoying. Potentially dangerous. Took it to the dealership. They detected no issues. From the way they responded I got the impression that almost everyone who has bought a 2018 Tiguan has taken it to them for the same reason. The company needs to make an official public announcement on this. Let them say: "the engine is proudly designed like this, and behaves exactly as expected."

Tiguan

This is a really expensive vehicle for the cost and Volkwagen customer service is very poor. They don’t even return your calls.

Tiguan SE 2.0 TSI

  • Automatic transmission
  • 55 miles

The Tiguan has a very severe hesitation and/or stalling issue when attempting to merge or enter into highway traffic, turning at corners or even simply accelerating from a stop sign or traffic light. The vehicle feels as though it is going to come to a standstill when pressing the accelerator. VW states this is normal and the way the transmission was designed. In the 55 years I have owned vehicles, I have never had one that operates this way. It is dangerous and the service personnel at the dealership state the operation of the transmission is normal? There has to be a fix for this. The many owners of these vehicles have to somehow put together a class action to get the attention of VW. But How do we get started? Please somebody out there, let us know before people get killed due to this defect and that is what it is, a DEFECT!!!
