BMW Recalls Numerous 7-Series Vehicles Due to Software Problems
BMW says doors could fly open while driving down the highway.

— BMW says a software error is to blame for a recall of certain model year 2005-2007 7-Series vehicles.

The affected vehicles are equipped with both comfort access and soft close automatic options and manufactured August 23, 2004, through September 3, 2007.

Recalled vehicles include the 2005 BMW 745I; 2005 BMW 745LI ; 2006-2007 BMW 750I ; 2006-2007 BMW 750LI ; 2005-2006 BMW 760I ; and 2005-2007 BMW 760LI. (Read reviews about BMW vehicles)

According to BMW, the doors might look like they are closed but may inadvertently open.  You can imagine the possible consequence of the door flying open while cruising down the highway.

BMW says the recall will begin sometime in November, 2012.  They will notify owners so dealers can update the software.
