Chrysler Recalls Trucks With Drive Shafts That Could Break
Welding problem could cause front drive shaft to break, leaving you stranded.

— Chrysler is recalling about 5,600 model year 2012 Dodge RAM 4500 and 5500 trucks because of drive shaft problems.

Chrysler says a welding problem with the front axle carrier could cause the front drive shaft to fracture.  If it breaks, not only will other components be damaged, but the truck won't move.

Translation: Call a tow truck.

The affected vehicles were manufactured February 2, 2012, through the end of model year 2012.

The recall should begin in July, 2013.  Dealers will replace or repair the front axle assembly.

With questions, contact Chrysler at 800-247-9753 and give them recall number N26.
