Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Please take a moment & say thank you by donating $5 or whatever you can to the Center for Auto Safety.

CarComplaints.com Notes: When the 3rd-generation Durango was introduced in 2011 owners almost immediately started having a wide range of issues -- from water pump failure to stalling engines. Turns out the TIPM is to blame and those problems carried into the 2012 model year.

TIPM (Totally Integrated Power Modules) is responsible for controlling and distributing power to all the vehicle’s electrical functions. So when the TIPM starts acting up, so do all sorts of problems in the vehicle.

The problems have been so bad -- and replacement parts became so hard to find -- that a class-action lawsuit was filed against Chrysler focusing on the 2011-2012 Durango. The lawsuit accuses the automaker of ignorning the problem until it spiraled out of control.

I received a recall on my 2012 Dodge Durango for the brake booster (P14/NHTSA 14V-154). I called our local dealer irwin auto company (877) 205-1428, and tried to schedule an appt.once he found out that I did not purchase this vehicle from them. They then told me that they did not have time to work on my vehicle that they need to take care of there customer that purchased vehilces from them. The following day, I called and talked to the general manager, tim james, and told him the story that happned yesterday and he told me he bascily agreed with the service manager. I told him this was a recall and that the recall letter had instructions on the bottom to report this if the dealer did not repair the car in a timley fashion to file a complaint. He said "go ahead and call them, that there number is pretty easy to find on the internet to report them". I called the Chrysler corporation and told them about the issue and was basically told this was an independent business and they can;T tell them how to run there dealership.

I received a recall notice back in May 2014 for the brake boosters #14V154000. I have been on a waiting list since the 1rst of June and still have not been able to have this part replaced. My Durango was looked at and I was told I need the part but still no replacement. I am still on that waiting list from June. Why is it taking so long to get the replacement part" and if my Durango is in need of that part, at this rate will something happen but the part is in and my name comes to the top of that waiting list" in the mean time I have now received another recall for my Durango, about the sun visor and I am told they need 4 hours to replace this part.

2012 Dodge Durango crew with a V6. Engine died while driving down the highway. I lost power steering and power brakes, but managed to get out of traffic and let it coast to the shoulder. The engine would crank, but immediately die. After a few attempts, the engine began running smoothly. Since then, it will occasionally not start (the starter turns over, but the engine will not run). No codes are displaying when hooked to a computer. A mechanic told me it was the tipm and I would have to take it to a dealer. After looking online, I found many other complaints for the same problem. Engine seems to have a better start record if I turn the key on and wait 2 seconds before starting vs immediately trying to crank the car as soon as I insert the key. Remote start rarely works now. My main concern is the engine dying while my wife is driving in heavy traffic (she is the primary driver). To me, this is a much more pressing issue than the current recalls.

The totally integrated modular engine (time) has had many problems since the purchase of the 2012 Dodge Durango. The SUV has stopped dead while in drive on interstate 95. The panel lights has all come on all at once while driving. The engine has stalled and would not restart several times late at night. The exterior lights has gone off completely at night without panel light notification. The fog lights will not work at all times. The radio at times will not pay. The push start button will not always start the vehicle. The engine permits a foul order at times. The engine has gone from automatic to manual drive without placement in manual. The brake pedal will not come back after being pushed to the floor. The mother board has had to be replaced. The entire electrical system has shut down - vehicle had to be towed to the dealership. I have been given a rental car 4 times for an approximate total of 30 days to try to rectify the problems. I have 4 recalls for various issues and none have been fixed due to parts are not readily available. Recall id's - April 2014 service brakes and brakes hydraulic anti-lock #102663, #102664, #102298 and July 2014 105085 - electrical system wiring. There are several class action lawsuits against the Chrysler group, llc for the 2012 Dodge Durango. I no longer feel safe in this vehicle, I can possibly cause an accident or someone can hit me with all the problems and potentially hurt myself or others with all the recalls and engine problems.

There has not been an incident yet - my issue is: There has been a recall for the brake booster but the dealer is telling me that Dodge is not sending the parts needed to fix the problem.apparently the brakes could possibly freeze and fail. I called the dealer 7/1/2014 and was "put on the list" for the part to be replaced. I called today, 8/1/2014, and was told I was on the list but there was almost 50 others in front of me and that Dodge was only sending 2 or 3 parts a month and had restricted the part so it couldn't be ordered. At this rate, it will be the end of the year before my car is fixed. Although it is Aug. Now, it will get cold soon and I have 3 children that I chauffeur around. I would hate for one of them to be injured because the brakes fail and would also hate to file a lawsuit over a known issue that Dodge seems to be dragging their feet over. Is there anyway to expedite the process so the car can be fixed before winter?

This vehicle was recalled through NHTSA. When I called for a service appointment they stated that there were no parts available for the recall. They explained that Chrysler was aware of this shortage and recall problem, the company was university Dodge in davie, Florida. I am about to embark on a 2000 mile trip with my 2 grandchildren. When I explained this to the service manager, manny, he said don't worry about it. We are in Florida and this really doesn't concern us.you will be fine.
