I purchased the car from Carvana in February of 2021. 2 months after purchase there were issues with the steering. I brought it to a mechanic to find out that the bolts had corroded and were completely sheared off causing the steering gear motor to be seperated from the steering gear. I found that this make and model (and year) of my vehicle is well known for this exact issue and was subject to a recall in august of 2019 (recall number 19V632000) however my VIN is not flagged as having this issue (which it clearly does as i cannot even drive my car now). My car was originally sold in Michigan and according to the carfax has remained in areas where road salt would be an issue for the bolts in question. I have contacted Ford and been told there is nothing they can do. It is now a very costly fix and i still owe on the car. It is clear that the recall needs to be expanded to additional VINs immediately. Incident date reflects date car was officially diagnosed at an official ford service center. Ford uses sub par bolts and as such a system that should last the life span of the car did not and i am left paying. The diagnostic report was vague and wrong - a recall fix was never completed

I just boight this ca 10/22/21 from a local dealership, I realized the car had issues by the 3rd day after when the car had a front tire blowout and after I repaired both tires on drivers side I contacted the dealership to talk to them about the alignment cause the car was pulling. The dealership had there automotive specialist drive the vehiacle.the diagnosis to my complaint was that the vehicle was fine and would make to California and back. About a week later the car was giving me error that the charging system needed attention. The dealership has given me limited warranty when I purchased but have a strict rule about bringing in vehicle by 9am but I was unable to get a scheduled date confirmed so I tried charging the battery with cables at that point the cables caught on fire after difusing that issue I was able to jump car and get home the next day I purchased a battery charger and charged my battery at home for 24 hours. I appplied battery in the car the day after and wemt to test drive it, it left me stranded and I had to have it towed home the car had completely shut down at that point so I took in my own hands to just send it to the local Ford dealership instead of the dealership where I bought car from cause the length of time it takes to get them to call you back is lengthy and I need to get to work and back its important so I had car towed from my home to maxwell Ford. I also had learned of 6 recalls that had been left unattended to so I figured I would get those fixed at the same time as the issue with the battery. The vehicle has been in the shop since the 11th of December with now a cost of almost 5600 dollars and thats where I am with things.

WORST COULD HAVE HAPPEN BUT THANK GOD I WAS ABLE TO DODGE AN CAR AN SLOW DOWN TO I STOP AN TURN ON HAZZER LIGHTS AND BREAK. I COULDNT TURN THE WHEEL AT ALL IT WAS VERY SCARY EXPERIENCE. IT WAS DISPLAYING MESSAGES PWER STEERING FAILURE AND ONE OTHER MESSAGE. I TRIED TURNING CAR OFF AND TURNING IT BACK ON BUT THAT DIDNT WORK. I HAD TO GET THE CAR TOWED TO FORD DEALERSHIP IN UNION CITY, GA. WHERE THEY FOUND OUT IT WAS THE PWERSTEERING SYSTEM THAT FAILED COSTING $2600 IN REPAIRS THAT I DIDNT HAVE AND I NEEDED MY CAR FOR WORK. SO I HAD TO COME UP WITH THE MONEY TO FIX AN REPAIR THAT SHOULDNT HAVE HAPPEN. MY KIDS AND I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. THIS HAPPEN JUNE 2020 I HAVE CALLED SEVERAL TIMES SUDMITTED DOCUMENTS OF REPAIRS AND RECIEPTS. STILL NO WORLD ON ADDING IT TO THE RECALL LIST TO SAVE OTHERS KNOWNING THIS HAS BEEN AN MAJOR ISSUE IN THESE CARS AS WELL AS i WAS TOLD THAT YOU ALL WOULD REIMBURSE ME FOR REPAIRS. While driving my 2014 Ford Fusion SE purchased in Ohio the power steering suddenly went out. This jeopardized the safety of my own children, children playing in my neighborhood, as well as, my own safety when I was left unable to steer the car. An independent mechanic diagnosed the problem. The driving gear was exposed to salt and brine due to the harsh Ohio winters. The sub-quality bolts, used by Ford, corroded and sheered allowing the driving gear to become completely detached. The contact stated that the steering gear should have been replaced under the initial recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

A warning message appeared referring to the steering system and hill assist. I have had the vehicle since 2017 and kept up maintenance as recommended by Ford. The steering becomes difficult at low speeds but improved with acceleration. This is a safety hazard because when slowing down to make a turn the delay from the struggle to turn the steering wheel could result in a collision. I have had the vehicle towed to the dealership for service. When checking recalls on the NHTSA app by YEAR/MAKE/MODEL, I discovered that this issue is common for drivers of my particular vehicle. See info below from www.NHTSA.gov: -€œ Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ vehicles manufactured February 3, 2012, to March 20, 2015, and 2015 Ford Edge vehicles manufactured February 26, 2015, to February 28, 2015, and originally sold, or currently registered in, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin and the District of Columbia. In the affected vehicles, snow or water containing road salt or other contaminants may corrode the electric power steering gear motor attachment bolts.-€ I live in NC and the vehicle has been through 3 Winters which could be responsible for the issue since salt is constantly spread on the roads to make driving conditions safer when ice and snow are present; however, NC is not one of the states being included in Recall number 15S14. I feel that NC should be included considering salt is used during winter.
