CarComplaints.com Notes: It's rare when a newer vehicle has defect trends, & the 2017 Honda CR-V has at least two — overfilled oil levels with a gas smell, & heat not working.

Both problems affecting the Honda CR-V's 1.5L "Earth Dreams" engine appear to be related to cold-climate regions.

CR-V owners report overfilled oil levels due to fuel in the oil, & sometimes a gas smell in the cabin. That problem appears to be related to fuel injection which Honda hopes to fix via a software update. Honda so far has only conducted a recall in China & a "product update" in Canada.

CR-V owners also report no heat even after warming up their CR-Vs for 30 minutes — not even enough to defrost the windshield. So far, there has been no fix from Honda for this issue.

2017 CRV has 20K miles. Drove to golf course parking lot. Upon return saw 10 inch windshield crack on drivers side lower left. Spontaneous crack with no impact. Class action lawsuit information on web, including testimonials from hundreds on various chat sites, seem to indicate an inherent defect in the vehicles windshield/frame interaction. Internet information seems to suggest this widespread problem is impacting 2017-2019 CRV's.

Center console unit refuses to dim under any lighting conditions. Attempting to manually dim it results in momentary dimming and then return to full brightness. This makes it very difficult to see at night and requires that I shut off the center unit completely in order to drive safely. According to Honda this is a known software issue on the whole range of 5th gen crvs but they have not issued any fixes.

This is the fifth windshield (including the one I bought with the car) I am on with my 2017 Honda CRV. Every January/February it seems my car's windshield "cracks" for unknown reasons. I have been driving my same commute for ten years. Never in those years have I had to replace my windshield on other cars. Since getting my Honda, I have had to replace it! these cracks take place after the vehicle has been parked and when the temperature changes. This is causing multiple insurance claims as a result- impacting my insurance. I'm also fearful of my children's and my safety due to these random cracks. I do not trust my windshield in case of an accident. I'm actually considering trading this vehicle in because of this issue. Honda needs to do something now.. tonight was actually the fifth time this happened after I parked my vehicle (after actually having my Honda serviced).

The windshield on my Honda CR-V cracked from the very bottom on the passenger side. I noticed there's a crack that seemed to have begun while the vehicle was parked. I'm terrified that there's something seriously wrong with this windshield and I am to scared to drive passengers in a car with a defective windshield.

The right mirror lane indicator malfunctions at different times. The malfunction indicates that there is a vehicle in the right lane when there is none. Honda refuses to look into because it doesn't happen all the time. Iv'E had it to the dealership 4 times but the problem is not showing up as a malfunction code.when the malfunction occurs the right mirror indicator light remains on and if I try to use my right turn signal the system beeps as if there is a car in the right lane when there in none. This problem has been on goings from the first week I purchased the van.

Front wiper blades don't have full range of motion. I noticed this at about 35,000 miles. I brought it into the dealer at 40,000 miles to have it checked. The technician diagnosed worn gear teeeth on front wiper motor, and that it needs to be replaced. Honda will only pay 50% of the repair cost. Wiper motors should not fail so quickly.

Honda recall sb 18-114 2017cr-V is completely unacceptable.. before the fix my CR-V heated up, & had heat with 2miles.. now the temperature gauge does not move for 10 minutes.. & there is no heat.. the CR-V was fine before this fix.. I returned to the dealer to have them re-check this recall.. they say that this is normal now.. the recall was intended to make the CR-V heat up quicker, not slower.. I'm just letting your know this, and I will also let NHTSA know. As this may now be a safety hazzard. As there may not be enough heat to defrost the windows. Per the crvoc.com : what you can do ' go on record and report the problem to the dealership, to corporate Honda, and to NHTSA.gov

Ongoing problem with vehicle since new during pa winter weather. Vehicle parked overnight 20 to 40 deg F. vehicle engine does not warm up when driving even after being remotely stared and allowed to run for 10 minutes. Heater control set to high, fan speed set to low. Temperature gague will rise to one quarter or half normal then drop to the cold position again after a few miles. Temp. Gague will eventually rise again to almost normal but if vehicle is stopped for traffic, red light or coffee stop it will drop down to cold again. All this time (12 to 15 miles) the cabin heat and windshield defrost are performing poorly. If vehicle is stopped and shut down for half to one hour and re-started it will perform properly with normal heater and defrost function.

1. gasoline leaking in to engine oil. Evident by gasoline smell and high level when checking oil. 2. poor or no heat in cold weather conditions. This causes a safety risk driving in snowy weather. Windshield will not defrost. Typically happens during stop and go city driving. Service appointment is currently scheduled for 12/6 and issue will be reported to the dealer also.

The 1.5 L turbo engine develops high oil level readings due to fuel contamination. I had several (12) system failure notices appear simultaneously. I took the car to the dealer and they stated that they "found that oil level was over full and smelled like fuel". also noticed that in cold weather, while driving, the front defroster is not warm enough and can't keep windshield clear resulting in poor or no visibility. This vehicle takes a very long time to warm up. Does not warm up at idle. Takes a very long time to warm up while in motion. The only way I've found to get the engine up to a proper temperature is to turn off econ mode, drive in sport mode and do not turn heater on.

Sunroof explosion: New Honda CR-V with only 4,420 miles. The sunroof exploded while driving down a state highway at 70mph. No cars or trucks were directly in front of me and no rocks or debris were found by the service repair in remaining shattered glass. Luckily I did not have the sunroof open so the glass particles did not fly into the passenger area, but cars behind me slowed as some glass particles flew from the roof. Honda replaced the sunroof under warrantee but exploding sunroofs are disorienting to the driver and not safe to passengers or other car drivers who catch the flying glass particles.

We were driving on a highway when we suddenly heard a large explosion. We thought something had hit us. By god's grace, no other vehicles were near us. After we recovered from the shock we realized that a large noise was coming from above. In fact, the sunroof had exploded. When we got off the road we found that 70% of the glass was gone. There were no vehicles near us, and certainly nothing above us.
