Grand Am SE 3.0L V6

Stationed at Ft Drum, went out to start car and it was -30F. Car started normally, then after a minute, it died.
After taking the top end of the engine apart, I found bent valves. Took the timing cover off and seen the timing gear had stripped. These timing gears are mostly metal, but the teeth are covered with a hard plastic. That over time, become brittle with cold temps. Then they break. Never did have the engine fixed. Wasn't worth it for an 87.
