Intermittently consumer would be unable to start the vehicle. Also, it stalls. Consumer is able to restart vehicle after 45 minutes. Dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem.

Vehicle was parked and consumer placed the key inside the ignition, and vehicle would not start. A burning smell was coming from the vehicle. Consumer lifted up the hood, and smoke was coming from the starter. Consumer was able to extinguish the fire. Consumer had the vehicle towed to the dealer for inspection, and mechanic determined that the ignition switch needed to be replaced due to failure.

Power window on passenger's side went out. Had window replaced under warranty. Problem still exists, but is continuous. Manufacturer indicated currently, vehicle's warranty expired. A mechanic in a repair shop stated that the part is sensitive and that it bends easily. Power door lock replaced. The window regulator assembly was replaced. Ignition switch relay kit was installed due to high elect current.

Recall 00V287 000/engine starter: Vehicle smoked when starting itself up while parked. Later, received a manufacturer's recall on engine starter. Called dealer (premier Pontiac, Buick, GMC; kingwood, tx; phone# 281/359-3600), and informed of problem and recall notice. Dealer informed consumerthat they will repairs all damages due to recall. Later on, informed that other damages which were not related to the recall would be repaired at consumer's expense. However, damages was due to defective engine starter, and dealer refused to honor it. Seeking help from NHTSA in this matter: Also feel free to provide any further details on this matter.
