The turn lights on our Pontiac Grand Am SE V6 have been going in and out at random. I asked my father about this and he said to try pushing the hazard light button. He got a recall notice for his 2000 Pontiac Grand Am last year but has not experienced this problem, so I want to know if the same recalled 2000 part number hazard switch and wiring of the turn light through it are the same as my 1999, the two cars are virtually identical in every way. If they are the same part and procedure of problem then I guess my complaint is with the NHTSA who did not include this part in the 2000 recall notice. Please do diligence, this is my family's car.

: the contact stated while driving 35 mph, the directional signals only worked intermittently. When activated, the signals worked for a few seconds, then failed. The vehicle was taken to a service dealer, who was unable to determine the problem.

I have a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am. In November of 2004 my turn signal started to malfunction. It would just not work for a period of time then it worked part of the time. I still have the same problem to this day. Now more than ever it hardly ever works. I am now using my are whenever I have to make a turn in my vehicle. I have asked a munroe mechanic as to why it would malfunction and he stated it was probably an electrical malfunction. I have not had the money to pay for a mechanic to take a look at the problem because he told me he would have to take a look at the whole electrical panel.

I bought my 1999 Grand Am a year ago and ever since April of this year I have had problems with my turn signals either not working or blinking at a rapid speed. Also the clicking noise associated with the use of the turn signal is heard even when the turn signals are not in use.

Signal lights and emergency flashers work occasionally... when I bought this car in 2003 it only had 10,000 miles on it but was out of warranty because of being a 1999. I contacted the Pontiac dealer in shreveport and also G.M. Corp. Both told me they were not aware of any problems with this. I have only spoken to 4 other Grand Am owners... all had same problems. It is not just my car.

My turn signals will fail to operate on occaision. When I notice that they are not working I quickly hit my hazard swicth on and off and that usually will get the turn signal to work again. I know there is a recall on 2000 models, but it seems from reading other complaints that this affects 1999 models as well.

Blinker will sporadically stop working, in instances where I need it the most. Called local dealership and it's costly to replace, up to $300. Co-worker has same year of Grand Am, had the same problem. This could be a potential safety hazard!

For a period of a month the turn signal operated intermittently due to a faulty hazard switch. There is a recall 03V327000 for the hazard switch, but this vehicle is not included due to VIN. The consumer indicated that the problem still exist. The turn signals would sometimes work if he activated the hazard lights, then they would cut off. The consumer thinks the problem is temperature related. A recall was issued for the 2000 models and up but not for the 1999 models although they are experiencing the same problem.

Turn signals became inoperative while turning, causing the car following to assume I was no longer turning, and accelerate....rear-ending me. This is a recurrent issue that needs resolved. Also, after the collision, the hazard lights would not work. Also, just saw the recall on the 2000-2001 grand aims, allergy, and mailbox from GM for the exact same issue. I believe the recall should be mandated to include the 1999 model year as well.

The turn signals and hazard flashers work very poorly...I have had tis vehicle for a year now, and every day they stop working....I have contacted to dealer many times, but each time I am told that the hazard switch might be bad..which is the same component that went bad in the 95-era Grand Am that made them experience the same problem, leading Pontiac to issue a recall on them....so it needs to be expanded!...they will stop working for no reason and this has almost caused a few accidents....and one time when I needed to place my hazard flashers on, they will not work....very dangerous...these are supposedto be a safety device that doesnt work..please try to recall these! previous model years of Grand Am experienced the same problems!!! and I have talked to many other owners that have the same issues exactly....

While driving at 65mph on freeway vehicle stalled. Finally restarted. Took it to dealership. Mechanic replaced PCM. Drove from Florida to California, made a stop in Arizona due to brake rotors warping. Replaced and adjusted rotors and brakes. While driving in California, vehicle stalled again. Failed to restart after being parked. Battery replaced after being towed to dealership. Key refused to be released from ignition. Air conditioner motor fan replaced. Shifter cable was replaced. Right turn signal lamp replaced. Oil light comes on before the 3000 mile scheduled oil change, dealer failed to set computer button, consumer feels this might have had to do with vehicle stalling and not starting.
