I just purchased this pontiac grand am from a dealer. Haven't even made the first payment (used car). The engine light came on. I went and had it put on a machine to find out what was wrong with it the Torque converter is bad and the coolant is green instead of orange. I am so upset because I bought the car as is. and I have to make these repairs out of pocket now. and I tried to get the car to start and it took 5 mins to try to get it to crank up. Please don't purchased this car used I haven't had it a day and it has major problems with it. Even experiencing electrical problems.

ive noticed alot of people having the same problems as have i with the 2001 pontiacs, around 85k it started hesitating and had a noticeable and almost unbearable lack of power to the accelerator, did some research, and turns out it was the catalytic converter clogging up, so i replaced the cat with a high flow converter, worked great, no hesitation and completely fixed all my problems, now that its around 90k, the transmission is wanting to slip and jump gear real bad in first and second gear. no clue whats causing this problem, but like i said before, apparently im not the only one out there having these problems with this model car.

Grand Am GT1 3.4L V6

Again, one of many issues with this car. Had transmission serviced (flushed) at 55k and seemed to be working fine. At around 88k, power was way down and had to replace the catalytic converter. After getting the converter replaced, it was like someone added two more cylinders. But I no sooner was I grinning from the added power that I noticed the transmission was slipping from 1st to 2nd gear (automatic). It normally will do this under medium to heavy acceleration. Had another transmission service (flush) at 102k and it did not correct the problem.
