Grand Am SE 2.2L V4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 28,000 miles

My grandfather bought me this car in Texas and is having it brought up to me. It has 28,000 miles on it but two days after he bought it and had been driving it to test it out, the dash started peeling up on him. He took it to the dealer and since the car is under warranty they ordered a whole new dash and are putting it in for free. My Grandfather said he knows the woman that owned it previosly and she says she had no problems with the vehicle and had no idea about the dash. It was a completely new problem.

Grand Am GT 3.4L V6

Dash cover/padding began to peel up from corners near the windshield. Tried to glue down but pad/cover and dash itself covered in foam. Now the dash covering has peeled back about 4-5" deep and 18-20" long from each corner, stands up and partially obscures visibility out the windshield. This de lamination or peeling has occurred around the large gauges and down along the center console. Heard others had same problem, contacted Pontiac HQ but got no relief. Major eyesore, ugly and just pathetic interior condition. Did I mention it obscures visibility out the windshield? Does anyone know of any recourse for this defective material and craftsmanship?
