My low mileage, weekend driver Grand Prix began to have key extraction problems two and a half years ago. It invariably occurs after several times of turning off the ignition. After it starts, it occurs steadily, unless I don't use the car for several hours. I took it to two mechanics and the dear girl decided to not jam up. The second mechanic removed the plastic cover under the steering column and told me to use a screwdriver, inserting it into the hole, to depress the silver tab on the ignition cylinder. You can see this if you lay on your back and look up into the opening. I tried this twice last Sat. when the lock jammed and it released the key. I am very happy to avoid costly repairs and hope this continues to work. i've owned four GM's, but this is a first for me.
