A few days ago I came back from a business trip got into my car to drive home. Somehow I had the feeling that the steering was more loose than usual and to drive straight I had to turn the steering wheel a bit to the left. Finally on Thursday evening I drove home and tuned into a parking spot. I wanted to back up a little to get the car straight and experienced after about 1m a quite big resistance. I stepped out of the car and saw that the left tire was straight and the right tire completely turned. Therefore I drove back into the parking spot. Therefore I lifted the car together with a friend and we saw that the steering rack mount is completely broken (see pictures). This is exactly the same problem David L experienced with his 2004 Grand Prix (http://www.carcomplaints.com/Pontiac/Grand_Prix/2004/steering/rack_and_pinion_problem.shtml). Lets see if I can get Pontiac to pay for that repair.
