Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Please take a moment & say thank you by donating $5 or whatever you can to the Center for Auto Safety.

CarComplaints.com Notes: Much like the 2007 model year, which has a higher number of complaints, owners are reporting that their engines are running out of oil awfully quick. As in, 1 quart every 1,200 miles. Toyota maintains that’s with the “normal” operating range of the 2AZ-FE while owners maintain that’s complete BS.

The issue may be the result of defective piston rings and is the possible target of a class-action lawsuit.

I totaled my 2008 Toyota Camry June 2009. I T-boned a truck as I pulled out from a stop sign entering an intersection. My insurance company totaled the truck as well. The problem is my air bag did not deploy. The ems worker and the insurance adjuster stated that with all the front end damage, the air bag should have deployed. I've been diagnosed with post concussion syndrome. Memory loss, tendonitis etc. For which I am told all time can heal.

The contact leased a 2008 Toyota Camry for a taxicab company. A driver ran the red light which caused the contact to strike his vehicle. The approximate speed of impact was 30 mph; however, the air bags did not deploy and the vehicle was destroyed. The bottom part of the seat belt malfunctioned and the seat belt did not secure him during the crash. He sustained major injuries which included a tear in his heart, concussion, and the discs in his neck and back. He notified the manufacturer; however, they offered no assistance. The dealer advised him that the taxicab company purchased the vehicle and sold the parts on it. The current and failure mileages were approximately 74,000.

The contact owns a 2008 Toyota Camry. While driving various speeds, the air bag light illuminated. Everytime he started the vehicle, the light would illuminate.
