MDX 3.5 v6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 24,505 miles

2016 FWD with 3.5 v-6: from a complete stop, acceleration in first and second gears seems very sluggish, like the clutch is not fully engaged/slipping. This does not happen every time, or I would get rid of the car or park it at the dealership. Seems to happen maybe every 3 or 4 times from a dead stop. It's more annoying than anything and definately not the way it should take off. I let the service writer at the Acura dealer know and he said they did a software update but the issue is still there. If anyone has suffered thru this very same issue, please reply as to how you might have gotten this resolved.

MDX EX 3.5L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 9,184 miles

I got into traffic jam and suddenly the vehicle could not move and the gear shifted to neutral. I tried to re-engage the gear several times to no avail. I was told by a technician, after the system diagnosis, that the transmission control module was bad. Since I am based in Nigeria, I had to order for the module from Canada at a cost of US$1,250.00. I am still expecting the delivery of the transmission control module up till the time of writing this note.

MDX

  • Automatic transmission
  • 9,882 miles

Transmission from the beginning was not smooth and over the time it become worst. when I brought it to service, they reboot the transmission computer and to move my easy pass from the center of windshield to the side because it interfere with front camera (It was completely non sense). After I got the car a day later, I noticed that nothing has changed and problem came back from time to time that the transmission is jumping on low speed forward as become hazard that I am going to hit the car in front of me. So, I brought the car back to the service again and I left the car for two to three weeks and they gave me loner car (MDX). When I got the car back they told me that they put new transmission. Right after this I got another problem that when I shift from reverse to Drive the Car jumps first to reverse and after that to Front. This happened when the engine was cold. I came again to talk with the service manager (in Park avenue) Brian McGowan. He told me that company knows about this problem and nothing to do with this. He knows that I have knowledge on engine and transmission and the same time I showed him 50 serious customer complaints on the internet and he agreed that he can not help me. Year ago I came to Park Avenue office and I asked to get rid from these lease and to have instead RDX (that I leased MDX & RDX on the same day of April 2016) and we are very pleased with RDX car. They refused to do any deal with me.

I am suffering with the MDX transmission problem from almost 3 years

MDX

  • Automatic transmission
  • 4,289 miles

The transmission failed to accellerate suddenly while driving on the highway, and also in the city. Dangerous thing to happen especially when passing vehicles. The problem was diagnosed and Honda Canada replaced my transmission with a "rebuilt" transmission instead of a new transmission. I'm currently fighting with the Dealder and Honda Canada to fully honour their warranty by putting in a new transmission.

MDX Sh-awd, Tech, Watch 3.5L 6v

  • Automatic transmission
  • 15 miles

I traded my 2009 MDX for 2016 MDX and what a difference. The new one might have more toys but the driving is no fun. Especially when you getting on the highway or coming to stop and waiting when the oncoming traffic gives you a chance to cross the street. So when you get the chance you press the gas pedal to accelerate and the car just does not want to go. I think this is a major issue and might cause a lot of accidents because you actually do not know if the car will respond when you need it or it won't and someone just will crash you because the vehicle did not accelerate.

I just went to the dealer yesterday they have updated the software it improved a little but not much. I was told that I have to drive for 30 or so miles and the car should adjust to my driving. Drove like 60 miles on normal mode still having issue, now I changed to sport mode a little better. Hopefully Acura can resolve this problem before anything really bad happens.
