15,000 miles on a gently used 2 year old Q5. When my car was in for service a month+ ago, I asked the dealer to figure out why the brakes kept squealing. They did the same thing I read about in a number of forums... advised me to take it on the highway and jam on the brakes. I gave that a try but wasn't the solution. They also told me 'this was normal for the Q5'. Unbelievable.

A month later I took the car in to the deal yet again for the squealing brakes and power steering issue. I explained I didn't want the car back until they had a solution. The came up with the fact that I was 'close to needing new brake pads' and recommended them. At 15,000 miles on what I still consider to be a new car, I spent $750 for brake pad installation... Doesn't make any sense and I will be seeking reimbursement direct from Audi.

The brakes started squealing at 20,000 miles and the dealership said they did not need to be replaced - that if I took it out on a road and slammed on the brakes it should stop. Of course, it did not, and upon returning to the dealership they informed me that it is normal for the Audi to sound this way. I called Audi of America and they suggested I take it back to the service dept. and if they agreed that the brakes were squealing without need of new pads etc., they would replace them. It took As of 2 weeks to get in touch with me to tell me they would not cover the cost because the sound is normal. I would strongly suggest if you are thinking about buying this car that you reconsider. Unless, of course you don't mind driving around town with squealing. I will be putting up you-tube videos of what the brakes sound like. DO NOT BUY AUDI Q 5

I bought brand new Audi Q5 a month back and just hit 1500 KM (900 miles) when this sound started coming from the brake.

There are two issues

1. The Creaking sound when you just play with your brake peddle while car is stationary. According to audi service center, this is normal and it comes in all audi models

2. The second sound is "Tak, Tak" whenever you apply brakes at relatively less speed. I haven't made it checked but it's very annoying that such sounds come from car like audi

Let me know if you have similiar problems and what solution you found for these brake sounds..
