On the evening of 8/12/2023, my vehicle (2017 Audi Q7) began producing a vibrating noise while driving and a clunking noise while turning. The next day (08/13/2023), after halting at a traffic light and accelerating when the light turned green, a loud pop was heard from the rear of the vehicle. And the vehicle was unable to move forward or backward while the engine was running. The vehicle has been towed to the Audi dealer in Chantilly, Virginia. Upon multi point inspection, the service team found that the drive shaft got separated from the rear differential flange. All bolts connecting drive shaft found sheared off in rear differential flange. Initially the service team tried to extract broken bolts and replace bolts and gasket to reconnect drive-shaft. But after couple of days, they were unable to extract broken bolts. So the current recommendation is to replace rear differential pinion yoke, re-install driveshaft and rear exhaust section and re-evaluate operating condition. All six driveshaft bolts for connection to rear differential found broken off in pinion yoke. Unable to drill-out remaining material from broken bolts out of rear differential pinion yoke. The service person thinks parking brake may have got engaged when the acceleration pedal was pressed causing the bolts to break. But, in my opinion, that is not the reason. I am certain that the parking brake was not ON at the traffic light. I would like to find the root cause why the drive shaft was separated from the rear flange. I am a bit nervous it may happen again and also want to help other Q7 owners if this a recall issue. In the following link the Audi service person posted a video that shows the separation of the drive shaft from the rear flange. I do not know how long the video will be accessible. Please watch the video as soon as possible. https://dlrlnk.com/BBH2FRyqqTyr I have also recorded the video on my phone (screen recording). I will send some pictures as well. thank you.

Sunroof suddenly exploded while driving, no other vehicles or flying objects around. The glass broke into several small pieces. It had the potential to shatter glass on me & my family while riding in the suv. The same issue has been reported by several individuals on the Audi world website. My vehicle is currently at a repair facility & being inspected by the insurance company. There were no warning signs. It suddenly occurred.

2017 Audi Q7 - 26K miles. During oil change visit - multipoint inspection, dealer service center informed me about the fluid leak and it warrants a water pump replacement/repair which cost around $1500. No sign of this failure, just out of warranty and they-€™re able to find now.

Without warning, my 2017 Audi Q7 sunroof exploded, with glass exploding outward and shards deposited on the closed mesh sun/shade screen. I was alarmed by a loud explosive noise, thinking a tire blow-out, but the sunscreen had literally exploded. I escaped being injured by flying glass shards because the sun/shade was drawn closed so glass did not enter the cabin. Only the retractable piece of the sunroof glass exploded, the rear glass remained intact. I contacted my local Audi dealer for a replacement part and asked him to research if the sunroof glass was defective. The dealership has not alluded to any defect study of Audi Q7 sunroof glass shattering. Upon repair, Audi service team concluded that both pieces of the panoramic sunroof must be replaced because -€˜ they changed the profile of the glass and now the new front glass does not line up properly to the rear glass-€™. The entire sunroof was replaced at my expense.

Failed water pump at 67,000 miles. The vehicle started with a slow leak and coolant smell, but escalated to losing one liter of coolant each day in about a month. Potential for overheating and fires.

Premature Water Pump Failure. I took our 2017 Audi Q7 into the dealer for a 60k mi service. The vehicle has been serviced as recommended by Audi at the dealership at every interval. On this visit everything looked normal but they discovered a leak in the water pump. Quoted a $2100 repair. We are out of warranty. Talking to other Audi Q7 owners, many have had premature water pump failures. Some were covered by warranty, others not. The Water Pump is an essential component and if it fails, it could leave the driver and occupants stranded due to an overheated engine.

Hi there I purchased a used 2017audi Q7 3.0T with about 65K miles in October of 2019 and a couple of weeks later I noticed that the antifreeze bottle was always low so I had to keep adding.there was no leak in the garage but you can certainly smell the antifreeze. I checked on google and other forums and learned there is a problem with the water pump. So if other people is having the same problem I think Audi should look into fixing it.thank you

I was parking the car and dropping my kid off at daycare. Car was stationary and parked when I proceeded to exit the car. Electronic key fob sat in the center console untouched. Pushed the auto start/stop button to turn the car off and exited the car without the key fob to get my kid from the car seat. Driver side car door closed and the car locked with the key fob in the center console. No other buttons were touched during this sequence. Car was now locked with my 4 year old in the car seat. I was unable to open any of the car doors, nor the trunk. It took about 5 minutes, but we were able to communicate through the window to my kid to push the button on the door (that had a red light on) to open his door. When this happened, I quickly grab the key fob. Before using the key fob to 'open' the doors, I tried opening any of the other doors and they all were locked. This event has happened twice. This is the second time. The first time this happened I needed to drive back to my house and get the second key fob. This time, I did not have this luxury. The situation was dramatic enough that I need to file a complaint. Luckily, my kid was able to open the door. Any younger and I would've had to break the window.

Sunroof exploded while driving at high speed on a highway in Texas. First we heard a big loud boom thinking we got hit, or we had a tire blew up, then we realized we were covered in shattered glass all over the front seat and second row (sun shade was open). We were lucky this time since no other vehicle was near us and no one got hurt. This is a major safety concern that needs to be addressed.

While backing up, image of rear view and overhead camera froze. Image showed a clear area behind car and I continued to back. I backed several more yards and hit thick underbrush before I realized the image was not accurate. I cut off car and restarted and image still froze. There was no damage from contact with brush but there was a large tree within 2 feet of the car's rear.

Cpsc: While being driven by my brother-in-law with my sister as a passenger, my 2017 Audi Q7 caught fire and was engulfed in flames in a matter of seconds. The fire was proceeded by a sound, and the fire seemed to come from front passenger side. It was not struck by anything and did not run over anything. The consumer stated the vehicle was previously repaired due to a fuel leak.

Pre-sense sytstem nearly caused accident on two occasions where there was no reason for it to stop the car. First time was at 75mph, on calif. 46, 4 lanes divided, westbound about 25 miles West of I5, level stretch of road, clear weather, no vehicle ahead in either lane and no oncoming traffic. Car suddenly cut fuel and braked to a stop. I was in right lane and ended up on shoulder. Fortunately, no traffic close behind or I might have been rear-ended. Audi dealer could find nothing wrong and had no explanation. System has four settings: Early, medium, late and off. Dealer set system to "late". when I asked if I should turn it off, I realized there was no way dealer would advise me to do so because of potential liability. Second incident two months later. At night, on ventura blvd. In sherman oaks, ca, at corner of kester ave., westbound at night, pulled into left-turn lane. Initiated left turn because oncoming traffic was a very safe distance, far away. Pre-sense system activated and stopped my car in the first lane of oncoming traffic. Because the next oncoming vehicle was in the second (right) lane, it did not impact my car. Had that vehicle been in the first lane, I would have been struck at 35-40mph broadside. There was absolutely no reason for the system to stop the car. I pulled over after completing the turn and turned the pre-sense system "off". this system is clearly not ready for deployment in vehicles. Rather than avoiding an accident, the system nearly caused an accident the only two times it ever activated on my vehicle.

Our Q7 is less than a year old. I smell gas when I park the car even after a short drive of about 3 miles. The idi service had said that this was related to vacuum pump and fixed it last week. I still smell gas and I am concerned with safety. I saw previous models have been recalled due to potential fire due to gas leak and I am worried that this might be the case with 2018 models as well.

After a short drive in hot Texas, I parked my car to pick up my daughter. Came back out to an empty lot and chatted with another parent in front of the car. While doing so my sunroof "exploded", nothing landed on it, and we were far from the road or any buildings. Needless to say had we been in the car and driving it would have been a huge safety concern, there was tiny pieces of class everywhere. And it said a loud noise when it happened, and I am sure that would have created issues driving 60 mph, which I did 10 minutes earlier.

When moving the car in reverse from overnight parking in my garage, the brakes squeal excessively. This sound does not occur when braking while moving in a forward direction. The car stops appropriately, but the sound it quite loud in reverse braking mode. The sunroof creeks and pops during city driving and highway driving. I just read an article on consumerreports.com about exploding sunroof problems and I'm concern that this could happen due to lack of reporting and manufacturers not taking ownership of the defect. Popping sounds coming from my sunroof have me concerned about my panoramic sunroof exploding during travel in the vehicle

Water leaks into the passenger cabin on the passenger side front floor from under the dash and puddles on the floor. The battery is located just under the floor where the puddling occurs. Audi claims this is "normal" unless I turn off A/C when going through a car wash or rain! this is a mold and electrical short hazard as water can drip down into the battery compartment. According to Audi, this happens on all Q7's per my work order receipt. This issue happens in rain, or while going through a car wash with the car running and A/C turned on and operating. Vehicle was out of service 14 days while trying to figure this out at dealership.
