The contact owns a 2007 BMW 530I. The contact stated that the front passenger air bag warning light was constantly illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who inspected the vehicle and found that the seat net needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure who advised the contact that there were no recalls for the failure and offered no further assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 59,000 and the current mileage was 61,000.

The passenger restraint airbag/seat belt warning light show up because the mat sensor under passenage seat is broken by normal use. BMW refuse to honor the free fix for this issue and wanted to charge around $1300 for the repair the safty issue.

The vehicle was not taken to have the failure diagnosed or repaired. An authorized dealer was notified and the contact was informed that a seat pad would most likely need to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 85,000.
