Like the previous writer, my convertible top does not come down when I press and hold the unlock button. The windows roll down but no top down!

It's annoying!

Cascada Premium 1.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 1,100 miles

I was told by the dealer that I can put the top down with my key fob by holding the unlock button down. The owner’s manual and the "Getting to Know Your 2016 Cascada" state the same. I tried to but down the top by holding down the key fob unlock button and it rolls down the windows, but not the top. I took the car to the dealer for repair and they worked on it for 2 hours and had to call the manufacturer. The manufacturer states the feature will be on the 2017, but we decided to not put it on the 2016, except for models in Canada. They state the manual are made for all countries and that it states in the manual that "if equipped" and my car is not equipped. That's not what it says. It says in one of the manuals "If equipped, press and hold the unlock button on the RKE transmitter until the convertible top is completely open and tonneau cover is closed. All windows will open during the operation". It does open the windows, but not the top and my car is "equipped with the unlock button" The "getting to know your 2016 Cascada" states "UNLOCK, press and hold to unlock the driver’s door and fuel door. Press again to unlock all doors' Press and hold to lower all windows. Press and hold to lower the convertible top" It doesn't say anything about "if equipped. I called General Motors and was told that it was intended to be on the 2016, but a decision was made to hold off until the 2017 was released, but it was put on all Canadian Cascadas. I, and all, Cascada owners in the USA were duped (many complains on the Cascada forums) into believing this features was on the car. They should either be installing it on the 2016 USA Cascadas or reimbursing the owners for an accessory they believed they had. GM help desk told me I could order the part from Canada and have my dealer install it, but it would probably be at my expense.

I called the dealer and Dan in the service area checked with GM. They claim they have the 2017 software to load onto the 2016 Cascada, but don’t know what effect it would have on my car. That sounds like a blow off. Pull the subroutine that controls the top down from the 2017 software and install it into the 2016 software, test it, then submit it as an update to 2016 owners that believed they were purchasing the car with this accessory. Then install the switch that should have been there to begin with. This is GM’s BAD, not the owners. This is nothing more than fraudulent advertising. GM needs to fix their bad decision. It’s not a matter of it can’t be corrected, it’s a matter of a GM won’t. This kind of crap is what put them in bankruptcy several years.ago. This is what drives customers to Honda, Toyota or ……..!
