My really good and reliable mechanic said there's something bent and/or wrong under the car (I can't remember what) that prevents repair of the a/c system, so I wasn't able to get the problem resolved within my budget.

RANT: I live in FLORIDA where for 10 months out of the year, you ABSOLUTELY do NOT want to be deprived of air-conditioning, especially when the power windows ALSO do NOT work and won't go down!!!!! For about one month out of the year, you do not want to be deprived of heating, which ALSO quit working (in 2014)! More on this car does NOT work, than does work!!!!!

Turned on AC for warm weather and expected it to work. Here in Texas one needs AC when weather gets unbearable in spring and summer. Blows nothing but hot air. Unfortunately I can't afford to get it fixed.

Century Custom 3.1L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 112,000 miles

The A/C compressor broke around 112k. It was a real inconvenience because the ac started blowing hot. Even worse the compressor clutch started to make a loud squealing/sharp grinding noise .. . Need to replace the compressor soon before the clutch seizes up and destroys the serpentine belt.

At just over 61K the A/C went out. It was a real inconvenience in the summer. Wasn't too big of a problem after I took the car to jiffy lube and got the AC fixed for like $75. But I also had a friend who had the same thing happen to his Buick at about 55K so I guess its a common thing.
