With no impacts, the car was parked, and when placed in R to back up, the entire front bumper, grill, lights wheel wells and fog light wires dropped off the vehicle. All "rubber connectors to the chassis were fatigued. 30189 miles on the car. A clearly defined defective design to hold the entire front of the car by six flimsy, thin and plastic or rubber connectors. Cost $1300, to me, $500. A flimsy attachment for the front end. A disaster if car was moving at any speed.
After starting engine and placing gear in drive, the car accelerated on its own so fast that it left tire marks on the pavement from where the acceleration started. The car passed through the parking lot lane, over two curbs, slightly scraping a small post in the parking lot causing the damage to the right side of the car. After trying to stop the car by applying the brakes and shifting to neutral and the car running over two curbs and steered into bales of hay which helped bring the car to a stop, shut the engine off and got out of the car. The car was towed to the Buick dealer and Buick div. Was informed and the following is the number assigned to the case by Buick: [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
Driver was on a large freeway in traffic, when the accelerator pedal broke off. Driver obtained control of the vehicle but not before the car surged into the vehicle in front of it. The pedal completely broke off and was laying in the floorboard. Car was purchased brand new and had only been driven for 6 months. Car was towed to dealership where purchased and is being investigated to determine the case of the pedal failure. No answer yet.
