This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
This has been taken to dealer/buerkle Buick 3350 highway 61, St. Paul, mn. 55110. Service tec refused to document this problem. There is an intermittent failure of the display circuit which indicates the gear the car is in. On start-up, there is no display of shift position or radio display. About 30-40 seconds later, there is an audible "tink" directly in front of the driver in the dash. Obviously, there is a defective relay in the circuit, and I am not going to get "caught" on this one after the warrenty period is up. This report establishes an offical record of the problem to ensure future repair. It is inherently dangerous to have no idea of what gear one is in, other than guessing!
