A commonly reported problem with GM instrument cluster, gauges don't work or lights don't work. Requires removal of dash trim panel to access instrument cluster. Instrument cluster must be repaired by instrument/speedometer repair shop with upgraded gauge motors now available, cost $150 or more, plus labor for removal and re-installation of instrument cluster and dash parts - likely $400-500 cost range for repair. This was a cause for class action litigation with GM when car was new and under warranty. May be applicable to other brands and years of GM cars too. If car is out of warranty, owner is faced with repair costs.
