Regal CXL 2.4L

Driving to work on a nice October morning, the car just went into neutral, would not shift into any gear. To get the car to safety I had to push it out of the road and drift it to a safe spot. After a couple of hours the car would start up and drive again but only for a couple of miles, immediately went into neutral again. In the end I had to wait and save enough money to have a used transmission installed (which had to be programmed by the dealer). Of course there were 3 different transmission models and mine was the most expensive. This was the first of many problems wit this piece of sh#* car that I now do not own. Never owning another GM vehicle and my father-in-law retired with them!

Regal

  • Automatic transmission
  • 70,000 miles

Against my better judgement, we are financing a 2011 Buick Regal. The transmission doesn't engage anymore. My wife limped it home and idled it into our garage, where it sits. We do not have a warranty, and don't expect any assistance. However, the dealership is quoting us at $5,000 to replace the transmission. The car only has 70,000 miles on it. The Buick Customer Care Center offered an apology and roadside assistance to tow it to the dealership, and nothing more. We are outside the parameters of a warranty fix. I accept that. I don't accept that a 70,000 mile vehicle needs a new transmission.

Regal 4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 112,000 miles

It's happened 3X that my 2011 Buick Regal's automatic transmission does not engage after stopping at a stop sign or stop light. I can put it into manual and limp home, but I work 30 miles away and after coming home like this last week, on the freeway, I'm not doing it again. 14 months ago this happened, and I had to get a new transmission. That took my dealer 6 weeks. I was under warranty then and it didn't cost anything. I should say I bought this car new and was leery of the transmission (only the transmission) being built in China. My fears were confirmed.

Once, AFTER they put in a new transmission, my husband came to a stop and it cut out. He turned OFF the car and restarted it, and it worked. I should add my hubby is a software engineer, and he thought it was a software problem. We took it in the next day and they downloaded an updated program to the car's software and it ran fine for 14 months. Now it's at it again. If I had been in a position to turn off the car last week, I would have done so, but I was on a freeway ramp with cars in back of me. It's nasty. I had Toyotas for 20 years and nothing, nothing, nothing like this every happened and I ran them into the 200,000 mile range. This Buick only has 112,000 and I'm thinking I have to buy another car. Not happy. I just paid for it last year.
