This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
I was driving on a rural road (about 40-45 mph) and missed a stop sign at a T intersection, went straight ahead and struck a guide wire, a large bush, then a block wall, and came to a stop after passing through the wall and entering the building. The car never veered but went straight as it struck these structures. Air bag did not deploy and I sustained a broken rib and injury to the chest wall. Emergency personnel could not explain why the airbag did not deploy. The car was inspected and found to be a total loss.
