Certain vehicles may have a condition where after multiple start/stop events in a row, an electronically controlled transmission shift to neutral may occur upon a change of mind auto stop/start event. Multiple start/stop events in a row may cause the intake manifold temperature to creep over 40C. Hot intake manifold temperatures and an extremely retarded spark can aggravate a false positive stall condition, resulting in the default shift to neutral remedial action. Dealers will reprogram the ECM.
