2008 CTS AWD connection between transfer case and transmission broke, lucky it was on a side road, car stopped would not go into any gear. Had to replace both transfer case and transmission, $5500. No warning till it broke. Funny thing, there is no scheduled maintenance on the transmission till 100k miles so nothing preventative should have been done. GM said not their problem, have a nice day.
