CTS Performance 3.6L V6 Di

  • Automatic transmission
  • 38,200 miles

This car is 9 years old and has 38,200 miles and never has been in an accident. I was told that the problem is with the 3rd brake light. When the trunk is open a lot of water come down. I will go to the bodyshop and I will inform you if is a solution.

Update from Nov 14, 2017: I made a mistake about the mileage, it is 39,200 instead of 38,200. I did not went to the body shop. The cover under the trunk was removed and also the third light. Black silicone was applied around the edge bottom of the third light, replaced it and applied silicone to the third light around and under the edge upper top part. I used 3m paint paper on the paint of the car that is around the 3rd light, to protect the pain. It is same as used when you paint the house or other object. I did it on Sunday (11/12) yesterday here in Hialeah, FL was raining all day and the leak stop. No water going to the trunk.

CTS Luxery/performance 3.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 124,000 miles

Third brake light mounted on trunk lid with (3) studs and (2) plastic pins. Notice that I said plastic pins. Yep, one on each end of the light. Same place water was coming in. (5) studs would have been a better choice. Hooray Cadillac engineering! You must love your job. Who wouldn't, especially when you don't have to fix your own mistakes.
