I attempted to brake to accommodate traffic, but the cruise control did not disengage; my vehicle slowed a few miles per hour and then rapidly accelerated, almost causing an accident. I tried to brake again, but the same thing happened! only when I put the car in neutral was I able to stop! I have read a few other similar reports in which the car was not even using cruise control and am now afraid of getting into a "Toyota"-type accident even if I do not use the cruise control. What am I to do"?" please advise...

2000 Cadillac Escalade. The consumer stated there was a problem on the highway. The vehicle began to accelerate. When the consumer pulled over they had to put it into neutral and turn it off. The vehicle was then towed. The dealership stated it was the throttle gasket. The vehicle just had the 30,000 mile check up two weeks ago. There were no problems at this time. There were no warning light before this and there was no indication that this was going to happen.
