I owned 2002 Cadillac Escalade, I bought brand new, we do not know how many times we sent this car back to dealer to fix something, I change tires every one & half year, right now we have big problem, when I drive on freeway entrance with turns, the stability light comes on, meaning time the car suddenly slows down, looks like you step on brake. I brought to dealer to check it, they still have the car, can not find what could cause that. They took it for a test drive, they know this is dangerous when you are on the road.

I own an auto repair shop and have seen the recall # 05V161000 regarding the parking brake defect with GMC and Chevrolet pickups. The same problem also exists on the SUVS of the same basic design, 2000 and newer Tahoe, Suburban, Escalade, etc. Every one of these I see in my shop with over 35,000 miles has a worn parking brake, usually ruining the rotors when they scrape metal to metal. I always hesitate to park near one of the vehicles in a hilly area, since I know the parking brake is usually non-existent.

Parking brake does not hold car when parked on a grade. Dealer said it was a common problem with Escalades. No recall/warranty.

The car's emergency brake while fully engaged will not stop the car from rolling down a 5% grade driveway. I took the car to the dealership and they said this isn't the first time these have come back for this problem. However they don't have a protocal or recall notice so they can't fix the problem. If this SUV were parked on a hill with the emergency brake applied and the car was shifted into neutral by a child. Their could be a grave accident that could result in fatalities to pedestrians and people in the vehicle. By the dealership refusing to fix this problem, I am concerned with the safety of the people.
