The AWD Escalade has a hydraulic brake booster that uses the power steering system to provide the power instead of the normal engine vacuum boosters. It works great, but it started leaking power steering fluid all over. The only fix is to replace the booster with a rebuilt one. Oddly I have an 82 diesel pickup with this same type booster and it still doesn't leak with nearly 200,000 miles. Wonder why the 2003 one didn't last.
