loud tapping noise

This is known issue with the 6.2L V8 engine by GM. The Active Fuel management (AFM) and Dynamic Fuel Management (DFM) lifters, are comprised of subpar materials that may result in premature failure of the components resulting in engine failure. There have class action law suits filed GM should be recalling or offering more assistance in repairing this issue.

There have had class action law suits filed. GM should be recalling or offering more assistance in repairing this issue. This failure has occured twice on different lifters prior to this. A new engine is needed as the camshaft has been damaged. Now GM is producing 50 engines a week and the wait list has 2000 engines needed! I reached out to GM in the begining and there was nothing they could do as it is no longer under warrnty. They made no mention of engines being on back order and they knew that was the recomendation from the dealership! The dealership let a month pass before I was informed of the wait list and that was after I started questioning when will it be completed as I was told it would be completed in a few weeks. However, after 4 weeks of no communication I had to force them to communicate with me!!!! I am still paying on the truck, then $11,000 to replace the engine should they be able to manufacture it! Absolutely, unacceptable for a $39,000.00 truck!!!

Escalade Luxury 6.2L V8

The issue was due to lifter failure. They replaced cylinder number 3 on the Right side. The dealership did not mention this is a common failure in these engines and it is likely to cause problems again.

loud tapping noise

While trying to warm up the truck in the morning, I came out to a hear weird noise coming from the under the hood. I took the truck to my mechanic where he told me the bad news. When he first heard the noise said it’s the lifters and it’s a common issue with this engine. As soon as he got the head apart, he called me and said he found a bent lifter and he must replace it and check the head for any damage.

We were very happy when we bought this truck. It’s a nice-looking vehicle and I never thought that I will have to face this issue.

Escalade ESV 6.2L Ls

  • Automatic transmission
  • 71,594 miles

Just purchased this vehicle on June 29, 2021, I am very annoyed and disappointed, I feel that I was cheated and taken advantage of by the dealer who has a service dept on site. This should be part of the Lemon Law and they should be held responsible for the repair or replace the vehicle.
